TVNZ Closeup Aspartame Segment – Media Spin Part two

Posted by admin on July 12th, 2010 and filed under confectionary industry | 2 Comments »

This is my edit of Part two of the Aspartame segment that aired on TVNZ Ch1 Closeup programme which featured Dr Bernadene Magnuson, of the “International Food Biotechnology Council” which is run by the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI) which is a Washington-D.C. based lobby group funded by food, chemical and drug companies. Primarily it acts on behalf of the global food manufacturing industry, but it also includes operations involved with agriculture and genetic modification; pesticides and pharmaceuticals; confectionery; and even with such dubious consumables as cigarettes. However, its private agenda has often been designed to thwart attempts to regulate or reduce public exposure to many dangerous or environmentally-damaging substances. Its private interests are focussed on the financial benefits of its major backers the larger food companies and their trade associations.

Part three will focus on conflicts of interest and background of Dr Bernadene Magnuson. Part four will focus on the social engineering of new zealand public by the americanization of new zealand in the 1980’s (when McDonalds first came to nz) and the history of NZ been used as a guinea pig nation by the CIA for its subliminal message technology for tv started in nz by Ray Cline (CIA agent from the USA) in the 1980s.. stay tuned! and wake up!

New Food Product Hits & Misses | 11 Feb 2009

New Product Hits & Misses
With over 50,000 products in the average supermarket, people don’t have the time, or the money, to test every product on the shelves and with 15,000 new products every year consumers need to know what’s out there!
So Phil does the testing and the tasting for you and gives the product a rating out of 100 so you know what you can expect when you try something new!
SupermarketGuru does not sell the foods we review, nor receive any compensation from the manufacturers for reviewing or rating them.
Phil taste-tests and judges each product based on the following 8 criteria:
1. (30 points) Taste: The most important attribute of any food
2. (20 points) Value: Is it worth it?
3. (15 points) Health: Based off the nutritional information, is it nutritionally balanced?
4. (15 points) Ingredients: What’s in it, how natural is it?
5. (5 points) Preparation: When applicable, how accurate or good are the directions *
6. (5 points) Appearance: Is it appetizing and does it resemble its photo or description
7. (5 points) Packaging: Is it appropriate for the product and does it have any benefits such as resealability, added freshness, better storage, etc.
8. (5 Points) Sustainability: Is the packaging biodegradable, is it wasteful, is the company endeavoring to offset their carbon footprint?
* products that do not have any preparation will have the full value of these points included in their total score

This is weird there is a whole generation of people who grew up thinking the Whitmans Sampler was the best chocolate ever, and then there is the generation who grew up on Weight Watchers Does anyone really think these are the same people? I dont! One piece of these Pecan Crowns is just one Weight Watchers point sounds good, right? Not! Three little pieces are 160 calories, 10 grams of fat and 24 grams of carbs. Wanna lose weight and be satisfied? Just have one small piece of rich, dark chocolate youll be better off and whats with these ingredients? Retails for $2.99 Whitmans Candies, Inc., Kansas City, MO 888 311 3723

Probiotics are all the rage they balance the good bacteria in our digestive tract. Thats the good news. Some more good news is that Lifeways Wellness bar is one of the few products containing peanut butter that, according to the company, does not buy their peanut butter from the Peanut Corporation of America, which has been implicated in one of the largest food safety scandals ever. Now for the bad news they do not list the types of good bacteria, or cultures and this bar is so sweet that you cannot even taste the peanut butter. Retails for $23.00 for 12 bars: 1 bar / $1.92. Distributed by Lifeway Foods, Inc., Morton Grove, IL 847 967 1010

I love coffee, so when someone sends coffee flavored products for review, I am skeptical at best. But Buzz Strong delivered on the coffee flavor and the recipe is a great balance between the chocolate and the coffee. The front of the label says 2 cookies equals 1 cup of coffee but what does that mean? Is it the caffeine? It is not explained, but I want to know! And, whats up with the high fructose corn syrup and the palm fruit oil in the ingredients? Retails for $1.49 for 2 cookies Top Floor Creations, LLC, Nevada City, CA 530 205 9177

This product is a RISING STAR! These Cheesy Cheese Pop Alongs are too good for kids! Not really! But dont think that these are just for kids these whole grain, popped snacks are crispy and taste great nothing is artificial and at just 90 calories mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and, oh yeah, the kids, will be very satisfied. My only complaint is that I personally would like a touch more cheese flavor. This company also donates 3% of their net revenue to help feed kids in under-served schools. Retails for $0.99 for a single serving

This product is a HIT! I love Stevia and I have been anxiously awaiting the time when every food company and every American makes the switch from artificial sweeteners to the all natural, no calorie sweetener made from Rebiana extract from the Stevia plant. Unlike many of the other Stevia products now on the shelves, Stevia in the Raw does not add any sugar alcohols it is just dextrose and Stevia extract and has a much cleaner taste. Retails for $3.99 for 50 packets Cumberland Packing Corp, Brooklyn, NY 800 611 7434

Original Song and Video
All that candy – 75 big ones
Thanks to Squid, BO, and AG
Candy Rap 2008©
Music and Lyrics By: Josh M.
Skittles, Starburst, Snickers, and Twix
I love eating candy, especially Tricks
Give me anything, even a mix
Some Chocolate, Lollipops, and Pixie Sticks
Gummy Bears & Sour Patch Kids
I grab my Push Pop and pop the lid
Ring Pops on my fingers, even the mids
I’m so desperate, I steal from the kids.
I’m eating this candy till I drop
A bag of Sweetarts and a Baby Bottle Pop
I flip it, dip it, and shake it
Eating so much candy, knowin I can take it
There is no candy I don’t like
Nerds, Pez, and Mik’n'Ikes
Girls are cool, but I find them a waste,
They don’t give me that pleasurable taste.
I’d rather kiss a pair of wax lips
I don’t drink beer, I go on candy trips
Rock Candy is made of sugar crystals
I hold Baby Ruths like they’re pistols
Break me off a piece of that Kit Kat Bar
What is that, Jelly Bellies in a jar?
Pop Rocks in my mouth go pop pop pop
I grab a bag of M&Ms and never stop
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups taste so good
Bottle Caps and Dum Dums, I knew that I would
Don’t even get me on bubble gum.
Bubbalicious, Bubble Tape, and Bubble Yum
I chew it like I chew my food,
But after I chew it, it don’t go down my tube.
Lose the flavor? I grab another piece
Or maybe three more because I’m a candy beast!
When I go fishing I catch Swedish Fish,
No need to cook them, no need for a dish.
Just drop them in my mouth, enjoy the bliss
And follow it up with a Hershey Kiss.
I am hanging out with my buddy
When my mom tells me its time to study
I tell her no need, I took some Smarties
Eating candy tonight, no crazy parties
The only board game I play is Candy Land
I eat Candy Buttons out in the sand
You’ll see Lemonheads when I open my hand.
Blow Pops in my mouth, till they’re crammed
Razzles are candy that turn to gum
It’s a two for one deal, oh how fun
I’ve saved a life with a life saver
If Jujubee was a girl, oh how I’d crave her
I am not addicted to drugs like dope,
But I have a craving for that Nerd Rope.
Tootsie Rolls on my teeth, I got me some grills
When I eat Tic Tacs, I pop ‘em like they’re pills
When it snows, I think its powdered sugar
I just ate something green, hope it’s not a booger.
I eat so much candy that when I take shits
I poop out Almond Joys and Whatchamacallits
Before I go to sleep in my bed,
I reach under the pillow and grab an air head.
I Eat Now N Laters Now and Later
At my parties, the candy is catered
I eat Tootsie Pops for no reason
I eat Candy Canes no matter the season
I eat Snow Caps because they’re a pleasin
Did you just eat broccoli? That is treason.
I got a Candy Jewelry hanging from my neck
Eating Atomic Fireballs, it burns like heck
Charleston Chews have marshmallows beneath
Jawbreakers can’t even break my teeth
When I brush my teeth my toothpaste is a Squeeze Pop
When I go to the dentist, all their mouths drop
Cavities galore, call my teeth Dem Bones
Protect your 100Grand, I’m coming to your homes
You see, sugar’s my thing, it gets me high.
Think you can eat more, don’t even try
Sour Skittles, Mega Warheads, I wont even cry.
I eat Flying Saucers soaring through the sky
Carmel and Cream make up my Cow Tail
Gobstoppers for all, even those who read Braille
Sour Punch Straws, come in the mail
If candy was a crime, I’d be locked up in jail
My Laffy Taffy stretches across the world
I love Cotton Candy, it’s sugar swirled
Of this rap, Willy Wonka would be proud,
I’m eating his candies and screaming them loud.
Around the Easter season, I call on my Peeps
To bring me Sprees and Dots piled in heaps
I don’t got a job, but I still get Pay Days
Ironic that our galaxy if full of Milky Ways?
Twizzlers and Jolly Ranchers are so yummy
In a Mr. Goodbar way, a Crunch bar is crumby
Sour Worms and Orange Slices are deliciously gummy,
With all this candy there’s a party in my tummy
(Here dude try some of this new sugar free candy)
Get that sugar free out of my face
That ain’t no candy, that’s a disgrace.
I’d rather have some of that Red Rope Lace.
The candy store, yea it’s my favorite place.
If you haven’t guessed, I’m a candy fend,
If you touch my candy, I’ll get mean.
I was born a human, but now a candy machine.
Eat so much candy, that I sweat when I dream
What is in Wonder Balls?, those chocolate spheres
Nothing like Mars Bars and Three Musketeers
I’ve been eating Sixlets sine I was born
I wish I had a field full of Candy Corn
Safety pops till I die, is what I have sworn
A drop of Fun Dip wasted, I fall down and mourn
I eat candy hearts in my room all alone
My Big League Chew’s my only thing ever blown.
I use Butterfingers for my cologne
Mentos and Yorks, always make me moan
Milk Dudes and Whoppers while I’m on the phone
I’m the King of Candy, put me on the throne.

http://www.creasweet.com/ The old order changeth, yielding place to new
The old order changeth, yielding place to new – Alfred Lord Tennyson.
In a fast changing world, with competition rising in all fields of life, The FIS Group from Russia feels a responsibility to offer its confectionery manufacturer customers a real solution which will help them compete in todays market and to become a market leader. Although it is only 10 years old, FIS is already well known by the confectionery industry for its innovative ideas. It has recently brought the innovative CreaSweet concept to the market Now all what you need is a CreaSweet and a Dream to succeed.
With CreaSweet, a manufacturer has the ability to change their product whenever required or to quickly invent new products to meet fast-changing consumer demands.
With CreaSweet, sweet makers need no longer depend on the machine for their business, but instead on their creativity
simply invent a new product and Creasweet will make it real.
A UNIQUE NEW FUNCTION
A digital camera takes a photo of the finished product at the exit. This is saved to the computer for future reference.
The CreaSweet concept
Keeping the following points in mind, FIS Engineering constructed the super complex CreaSweet. It offers:
• Freedom of thought
• Independence from machine manufacturers
• Choose your own way to victory
• Value for money
• Compete and lead the market
• Offer variety to your end consumers
• Make the confectionery business colourful and attractive
• Earn money and develop innovative products.
THE MODULAR COMPLEX CAN BE BOUGHT IN PARTS
Each module is complete in itself. The system is like a constructor game, consisting of various blocks which can be interconnected to each other as requirements change.
With the purchase of one of the components of the complex, you will open yourself up to a way to manufacture more then 200 different types of confectionery products using cooling or baking methods. The unprecedented assortment is the result of interchangeable forming, depositing, and extruding heads which are mounted onto a sandwich machine base of IntelleDrop.
CreaSweet is a unified system of all known extruders in the confectionery manufacturing world. Piston head extruder for liquid masses, gear head extruder for semi dense masses and screw head extruder for dense masses. Also included is a unique head cleaning system. Everything is controlled by intelligent software. First, a product is created on a touch screen with the help of unique software after finalisation on the design, with just a one click command this design is sent to the manufacturing unit for production. At the exit a digital camera takes a picture of the finished product and this is saved in the system for future reference. It gives over 200 variants to intercross different density masses.
CREASWEET OFFERS A REAL BUSINESS SOLUTION
THE CONFECTIONERY MANUFACTURER CAN NOW SPEND HIS VALUABLE TIME N CREATING NEW PRODUCTS, MAKING BUSINESS STRATEGIES, OPENING NEW REGIONS, PROVIDING A WIDE VARIETY OF NEW PRODUCTS FOR HIS END CONSUMERS, AND DEVELOP HIS BUSINESS INSTEAD OF SEARCHING FOR NEW MODELS OF MACHINES TO PRODUCE THE SAME OLD PRODUCTS
